Dr. Emily Kiourtsis is a licensed Clinical Psychologist who provides in-person and virtual therapy services to individuals and couples presenting with a variety of concerns, including relationship problems, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, low self-worth, managing emotions, and trauma.  Dr. Kiourtsis knows therapy may cause people to feel very vulnerable. She is committed to building a trusting environment and relationship in which people feel able to authentically express themselves.  Dr. Kiourtsis understands that many people experience shame, marginalization, and trauma. She prioritizes fostering self-compassion and empowerment with her clients. As a therapist, she finds it valuable to explore individuals’ stuck points and patterns that may get in the way of effectively navigating life’s difficulties.  She adopts a collaborative and client-centered approach, while integrating a variety of therapeutic frameworks, including Intersectional Feminist, Family Systems, Attachment, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

Dr. Kiourtsis earned her Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Psychology from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio and later obtained her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) from Wright State University School of Professional Psychology in Dayton, Ohio.  Her clinical experience range includes college counseling centers and community mental health. Beyond her long service as a psychologist providing individual therapy, Dr. Kiourtsis has also led many therapy groups focused on women and relationships, interpersonal effectiveness, DBT skills, family of origin stress, and disordered eating/body image concerns. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Kiourtsis has engaged in a variety of leadership positions and served as a clinical supervisor to a variety of clinicians, including Psychology Doctoral Interns. Dr. Kiourtsis has presented at numerous conferences and conducted a variety of outreach presentations on many areas including, but not limited to, suicide risk and prevention, self-compassion in mental health, and mental health stigma.  Dr. Kiourtsis’s combined experiences brings a clinical skill set that promotes empowered selves and life improvement in her adult and teen clients. She is an active member of The Ohio Psychological Association.
