Sumr Ayoub, MSW, LISW Clinical Therapist

Sumr Ayoub is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) with experience working with adolescents and adults across private practice, inpatient, acute outpatient, and community mental health. She is passionate about providing culturally responsive care and believes every person’s story deserves to be understood within the context of their unique experiences. Sumr is committed to helping clients better understand themselves, build on the strengths they already possess, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Sumr believes therapy is a collaborative process built on authenticity, trust, and genuine connection. While she brings clinical knowledge, creativity, and evidence-based interventions, she believes clients are the experts on their own lives.

She tailors therapy to each individual’s unique needs and goals by integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), attachment-based interventions, mindfulness, and strengths-based approaches. She values creating a space where clients feel comfortable being themselves, whether that means processing something difficult, celebrating progress, or finding moments of humor along the way.

Sumr earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and her Master of Clinical Social Work from the University of Maryland. Her clinical experience includes inpatient child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Maryland Medical Center, acute outpatient behavioral health at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and outpatient therapy in both community mental health and private practice settings.

Throughout her career, she has supported children, adolescents, young adults, and families through anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and mental health crises. In addition to her clinical work, she has authored and co-authored peer-reviewed research and conference presentations focused on trauma, grief, suicide prevention, and child welfare.
