SCHEDULING NEW CLIENTS JULY 2025
Jennifer Plymale is a Licensed Independent Social Worked (LISW) who feels passionate about supporting clients presenting with concerns regarding overachievement and/or perfectionism, imposter syndrome, low self-esteem, trauma (complex and/or generational trauma), anxiety, relationship issues, and sexuality/gender exploration. She is an accomplished therapist who utilizes an approach of authenticity, empathy, and empowerment through skill development and education. Her goal as a therapist is to help individuals develop the internal connections necessary to address presenting concerns and move closer to their unique definition of a meaningful and fulfilling life.
Ms. Plymale uses an eclectic and person-centered approach that utilizes Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy, and Somatic Therapy interventions. She gravitates towards psychodynamic and attachment theories as a lens to view concerns, both of which consider the influence of the unconscious mind and past experiences in shaping perspectives and behaviors that might be problematic in the present. She believes in the power of uncovering the underlying factors motivating perspectives and behaviors to achieve an awareness that creates space for freedom to change patterns in a meaningful way.
Ms. Plymale completed her Bachelor of Health Science (BS) at Marshall University and her Master of Social Work (MSW) at Widener University. She has worked in the field of mental health and substance use disorders since 2016 with diverse experiences such as coordinating activity groups for an inpatient psychiatric unit, community mental health services, individual therapy, and facilitating women’s psychoeducation and processing groups. Her competence is evidenced through leadership roles and opportunities throughout her career, such as acting as a Clinical Director, providing supervision and consultation to other licensed professionals to develop clinical skills, and acting as the liaison between the courts and treatment center to support human trafficking victims. Ms. Plymale enjoys utilizing pieces from each of her professional experiences in her individual work with clients and enjoys collaborating with her clients to create unique and creative interventions.
