Congratulations to Dr. Banyasz for celebrating one year with CWW! Dr. Banyasz’s clinical expertise in health psychology has provided an incredible support to so many clients at CWW. She has also remained an active researcher and educator in the Central Ohio healthcare community. She recently published Cancer-Related Suicide: A Biopsychosocial-Existential Approach to Risk Management in Psycho-Oncology: The Journal of Psychological, Social, and Behavioral Dimensions of Cancer. In addition to her recent publication, she presented her research at the monthly Psychosocial Oncology Grand Rounds at The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.

Dr. Banyasz at APOS

Dr. Alissa Banyasz recently attended the 2018 American Psychosocial Oncology Society (APOS) Annual Conference held in Tucson, Arizona. The conference brings together 500 psychosocial oncology professionals to share new research and clinical innovations that address the psychological, behavioral, social, and spiritual aspects of cancer. Dr. Banyasz chaired a symposium titled Exploring Best Methods to Screen for and Address Religious/Spiritual Distress in Cancer Patients. Also co-led the annual meeting for the Spirituality special interest group and collaborated on efforts to advertise and connect members to APOS's new mentorship program. CWW thanks Dr. Banyasz for her continued commitment and leadership to patients and professionals in the cancer community.
